Ways to work together
From a single introductory visit to a multi-session course or a weekend retreat, here’s how the work is offered, and how to get help with the cost.
- Individual sessions
- The core of the practice: 90-minute, one-to-one sessions built around your goals and paced to you. A typical course runs 8 sessions, and more can be offered after that.
- Couples sessions
- Some of the most meaningful work happens between two people. Couples sessions use the same ground-based approach to build communication, trust, and understanding.
- Small groups
- Small groups of four or five offer something individual work can’t: doing this alongside others who understand. Especially resonant for those from shared backgrounds: military, first-responder, and beyond.
- Introductory sessions
- New to this, or referring someone who is? An introductory session is a gentle, low-commitment way to experience the setting and the work before starting a full course.
- Retreats
- For small groups, we offer day-long and weekend retreats, including, with a knowing nod to our military guests, the “Strategic Retreat.” A retreat trades the weekly rhythm for one concentrated stretch: a full day or a weekend on the farm to do deeper work, away from everything that usually pulls at your attention. Day and weekend formats are both available. Contact us to discuss details.
- Packages
- Because this work builds over time, sessions are offered in packages. Packages come in 8 sessions. Groups and individual work are welcome. We’ll help you choose the right starting point at your consultation.

What’s next
On the horizon
We’re building toward more: larger groups, retreats with on-site accommodation and meals, and training workshops for those who want to learn to practise equine-facilitated wellness themselves. Coming in the near future.
Funding
Help with the cost
Because your sessions are delivered by a registered psychologist, coverage may be available that pure equine programs can’t offer.
Sessions are billed through Dr. Day’s practice as psychological services. Veterans may qualify for coverage through Veterans Affairs Canada, administered by Medavie Blue Cross, and Dr. Day requests the pre-authorization; serving CAF members are typically covered through CF Health Services. For other first responders and groups, other coverage options may be available. We’ll explore options with you. Eligibility is set by VAC or your provider. We’ll help you confirm what applies before you book.
